Birthers Are Back In a Big Way

We’ve missed the Birthers. They put the “crazy” in “Democrazy”. Without them, we’ve had to confront the actually scary lunacy of the gun nuts and the Tea Party. But now birthers back with new wacky schemes and characters. Woooo!

Move aside, Orly Taitz, for there is a new Grand Ubermensch Birther coursing crazily through the airwaves: His name is Lt. Col. Terry Lakin, and he must be right because he is in the military. He also gets anti-establishment cred for spreading his gospel via janky YouTube videos. Lakin is currently being court-martialed for refusing to redeploy to Afghanistan until Obama releases his birth certificate. (Presumably Obama is going to send his birth certificate to Lakin’s house, along with a self-addressed envelope so Lakin can send it back when he’s done.) There is a very excellent chance for this man to go to jail and, someday, write the Birther version of“Letters from a Birmingham Jail”. Exciting!

Also exciting: The much awaited push for Birther legislation has begun! The Arizona “Birther Bill” requires “presidential candidates to produce a birth certificate before they can make the ballot in Arizona.” The bill was introduced by Republican Judy Burges who represents Skull Valley, Arizona. (Burges won the Skull Valley seat in 2008 from Sauron.) It was co-sponsored by 40 Arizona Republicans and today passed the house thanks to strong Republican support

   Dear Secretary of States Dr. Orly Taitz –

   I am concerns that the attorneys in the miltary trial of Col. Dr. Terri Lakin has not been coming to you for help and advice.

   No other attorney has your record of getting the army to be backing down and not taking patriots like Capt, Easterling and LCol. Cook. To not be making use of you and your talents is criminal.

   Please, I asking this if you, to file a friend of the court briefing and ask that you be allowed to defend this brave patriot Col. Dr. Lakin and make sure the army backs down on him as well. Failing that, please file a brief with the courts with all your documentation about the usurper and his crimes, and show Col. Dr. Lakin his best chance to gain his freedom and the downfall of the usurper is being in your capable hands.

   Lt. Col Lakin is part of the military, he will be tried by the military court. I am not licensed there. I don’t believe that Mr. Hemenway will be representing him there either. It is my understanding that his defense will be provided by a JAG officer

   The important thing is not who defends him: if discovery is allowed, then the facts will be his best defense. Unfortunately, I fear that the prosecution will try to hide under the skirts of executive privilege.

   It’s a Catch-22: how can he invoke executive privilege – he’s not legally the Chief Executive – but to prove it we need discovery.
