Will Ivanka become the first female US president in 2024? Her position as President Trump’s senior advisor for women and children might be the springboard for 2024 run

Posted on | December 14, 2016 | 10 Comments

Recently it was announced that President Elect Trump will leave only two of his sons to manage his business.

Ivanka will not be managing Trump’s sprawling real estate empire, which made me think, is Ivanka being groomed to be a future US president. Donald Trump is expected to run for re-election in 2020, but what about 2024? Will Ivanka run in 2024, will she be the first female US president?

Historically, GOP does better with men, while Dems do better with women. This year Trump had 8% margin with men, while Clinton had an 8% margin with women. A presidential female GOP candidate with a known name recognition, like Ivanka Trump,  might bring women’s votes to the table and be a shoe-in for presidency in 2024. Ivanka is highly educated, successful business women and a great speaker. Her other hidden asset is her husband, Jared Kushner, who, by all accounts, has a brilliant business and political mind, and who was Trump’s  right hand during the campaign.

Ivanka announced that she wants to work on women’s and children’s issues. She talked about an important issue of affordable child care.

In a recent interview with Fox News, Donald Trump shared how much he’d love for his daughter Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, to be a part of his administration.

“I would love to be able to have them involved,” he said. “If you look at Ivanka, you take a look, she’s so strong, as you know, to the women’s issue and childcare, and so many things-she’d be so good. Nobody can do better than her. I’d just have to see whether or not we can do that. She’d like to do that…. I’d love to have Jared helping us on deals with other nations and see if we can do peace in the Middle East, and other things. He’s very talented. He’s a very talented guy. So, we’re looking at that from a legal standpoint right now.”

In a recent interview to Leslie Stahl Ivanka stated:  “Wage equality, childcare. These are things that are very important for me. I’m very passionate about education. Really promoting more opportunities for women.”`

Federal anti-nepotism law prevents Trump from appointing Ivanka to a paid position in the White House. Established under the Johnson administration, in what many saw as a reaction to President Kennedy’s appointment of his brother Bobby as Attorney General, the Federal Anti-Nepotism laws state that “A public official may not appoint, employ, promote, advance, or advocate for appointment, employment, promotion, or advancement, in or to a civilian position in the agency in which he is serving or over which he exercises jurisdiction or control any individual who is a relative of the public official.”

However, according to experts, Ivanka and Jared may work without drawing a salary.

For example, Ivanka might become Trump’s unpaid senior advisor on women and children.

Further, Bill and Hillary Clinton created an exception to federal anti-nepotism law when Bill appointed Hillary to oversee health-care reform. DC Circuit court of Appeals found: “We doubt that Congress intended to include the White House or the Executive Office of the President” in the anti-nepotism statute, D.C. Circuit Judge Laurence Silberman wrote in the 1993 decision joined by Judge Stephen Williams. “So, for example, a President would be barred from appointing his brother as Attorney General, but perhaps not as a White House special assistant. … The anti-nepotism statute, moreover, may well bar appointment only to paid positions in government.”

Based on this legal precedent, I fully expect Ivanka to become President Trump’s senior advisor for Women’s and Children’s Issues and I expect this position to be a springboard for her future campaign for president in 2024.

We might have the first female president in 2024. Ivanka Trump.
