While in the USAF, I went to Diego Garcia numerous times, the island is horse shoe shaped with the military bace occupying the south end of the eastern part. The widest part of this base is less than 1/2 mile wide from the bay to the ocean, it is not a spraling base, there is one hangar that is much too small to hide a 777. Any satellite, and I am sure there are several would have detected that plane on the ramp. In addition to that. The island is British property, there is a constable that lives on a small rubber plantation on the north end of the island. He would also have been aware of the arrival of a commercial airliner. No tweets or reports from any occupants of the island.
